Job Description

Overview

  • Manage fund accounting and administration tasks for investment funds under strict internal control environment.
  • Collaborate within a small team to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
  • Prepare NAV packages, investor reports, capital call notices, and distribution notices.
  • Conduct research on private securities to ensure proper accounting treatment and compliance.
  • Perform reconciliations of accounts and review reconciliations prepared by others.
  • Assist external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Prepare sections of public filings and review press releases for accuracy.
  • Provide oversight and management of external accounting agents and administrators.
  • Maintain organized paper and electronic files for efficient access.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare timely and accurate net asset values, yields, and distributions for review.
  • Complete daily checklists for detailed review of fund general ledgers and accounting entries.
  • Perform analytical reviews of monthly, quarterly, and annual net investment income.
  • Prepare fund expense budgets and asset-based fee calculations.
  • Submit borrowing and repayment notices to fund lenders for liquidity management.
  • Review valuation materials prepared by third-party experts and portfolio managers.
  • Prepare reporting and accounting materials for public company boards and private fund managers.
  • Ensure compliance with SEC, tax, and prospectus restrictions and limitations.
  • Interact with external auditors to support quarterly reviews and annual audits.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Business Administration degree in accounting or finance preferred.
  • 1-5 years of fund accounting or administration experience required.
  • Strong analytical and technical accounting skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products is required.
  • Experience with regulated investment company tax and private fund structures is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in small groups.
  • Authorized to work lawfully in the United States.
  • Respect for maker-checker internal controls in daily operations.
