Job Description
Overview
- Support accounting functions for publicly traded entities, including hybrid mortgage REITs and CLO-focused investment companies.
- Collaborate with administrators to maintain accurate financial records and reconcile data with internal systems.
- Assist in preparing quarterly and annual financial statements and disclosures.
- Perform reconciliations for balance sheets, profit and loss accounts, and loan portfolios.
- Coordinate with accountants on complex securitizations, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Analyze expense budgets, liaising with departments for projections and allocations.
- Prepare investor and regulatory reporting, including audits and marketing requests.
- Collaborate with tax functions for compliance support and tax planning based on accounting data.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Create and review monthly financial and management reports for funds.
- Maintain financial records by liaising with external administrators.
- Reconcile administrator data with internal portfolio management systems.
- Assist in preparing financial statements and footnote disclosures.
- Perform reconciliations for balance sheets and profit/loss accounts.
- Coordinate with product accountants on securitizations and financial reporting schedules.
- Analyze budget-to-actuals and liaise on expense projections and allocations.
- Support investor and regulatory reporting, including audits and investor relations.
- Collaborate with tax functions for compliance and planning based on accounting data.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Public or Fund Accounting.
- Preferred experience of 4 years in relevant accounting roles.
- Understanding of complex legal structures and accounting consolidation issues.
- Knowledge of fixed income, whole loans, derivatives, and MBS is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Excel is required; SQL knowledge is a plus.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Detail-oriented and organized with a willingness to learn and adapt.
