Job Description

Overview

  • Lead the PACU department, ensuring high-quality patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Supervise pre-admission testing, same-day surgery, and endoscopy units.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance perioperative services.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and risk management standards.
  • Develop and implement process improvements for resource optimization.
  • Participate in staff development, evaluations, and competency reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to ethical and legal healthcare guidelines.
  • Adapt to new technologies and trends in perioperative nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage daily operations of Pre-op, PACU, and Endoscopy units.
  • Coordinate surgical schedules, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor and improve supply management and productivity.
  • Analyze statistical data for perioperative service line improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and risk management standards.
  • Develop effective inter-departmental relationships and communication.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and staff training.
  • Maintain clinical expertise and adapt to evolving practices.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Current Virginia RN license and BLS certification required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of department-specific experience; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in managing surgical schedules and resource allocation.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and risk management standards.
  • Ability to analyze data and implement process improvements.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills for staff development.
