Job Description

Overview

  • Lead the strategic direction of patient care in the Intensive Care Unit and Medical Surgical settings.
  • Collaborate with staff, physicians, and nurse executives to address nursing challenges effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies to meet patient care needs and standards.
  • Drive performance improvement initiatives within the department to enhance service quality.
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities to maintain high standards of care.
  • Assist in developing and managing the departmental budget effectively.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to nursing teams, fostering professional growth and collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards in all departmental operations.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee daily operations of the Intensive Care Unit and Medical Surgical departments.
  • Develop and implement policies to optimize patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to address and resolve patient care challenges.
  • Monitor and evaluate department performance against established benchmarks.
  • Lead performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets, ensuring resource optimization.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for nursing staff.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role within acute care settings.
  • Preferred 5 years of experience in managing ICU or Medical Surgical departments.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital policies, patient care standards, and healthcare regulations.
  • Proven ability to lead performance improvement and CQI initiatives effectively.
  • Experience in budget formulation and resource management within healthcare settings.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams.
