Job Description

Overview

  • Provide clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers in a fast-paced ambulatory care setting.
  • Assist with patient care, including vital signs, specimen collection, and medical record documentation.
  • Ensure patient flow and satisfaction by addressing concerns and coordinating appointments effectively.
  • Perform tasks such as scheduling, registration, and insurance verification using electronic systems.
  • Support campaigns and initiatives to improve patient health outcomes and reduce unnecessary visits.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to deliver age-appropriate care and communication.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality while adhering to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Participate in training to achieve proficiency with electronic medical record systems.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Greet patients warmly and manage their flow through registration and waiting areas.
  • Coordinate referrals and appointments with specialists, ensuring all necessary documentation is provided.
  • Perform patient care functions such as physical exam preparation, phlebotomy, and diagnostic testing.
  • Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records and maintain data integrity.
  • Assist with campaigns to close care gaps and improve patient health outcomes.
  • Handle patient inquiries and concerns professionally, escalating issues as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies regarding confidentiality and patient care standards.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to a cooperative work environment.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or eligibility for certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Proficiency in navigating electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and patient care techniques.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform age-specific patient care and adapt communication accordingly.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours and adapt to changing assignments.
