Overview

  • Join a dynamic legal team as a Contract Paralegal, providing essential support to attorneys and clients in a hybrid work environment.
  • Assist in gathering and managing client information, ensuring accurate and timely documentation for legal proceedings.
  • Conduct criminal history checks and conflicts assessments, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing case details, utilizing both manual and electronic systems.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients, acting as a liaison to facilitate effective communication and case management.
  • Support court operations by assembling files, scanning documents, and uploading data to legal databases.
  • Contribute to advocacy efforts for low-income individuals, demonstrating commitment to social justice.
  • Work in diverse settings, including office, courtroom, and field environments, ensuring flexibility and adaptability.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Gather and document client information for attorneys in court settings, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Interact with clients and families, providing case-related information and support as needed.
  • Access and analyze court records to assist attorneys in case preparation and management.
  • Record case information using both manual and electronic systems, maintaining organized and accessible records.
  • Conduct criminal history and conflicts checks, adhering to established protocols and confidentiality standards.
  • Prepare detailed written and electronic reports summarizing compiled information for attorney review.
  • Obtain and copy court and office files, ensuring all materials are accurately assembled for legal proceedings.
  • Act as a liaison between attorneys and their clients, facilitating effective communication and case updates.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent; relevant work experience or education preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in legal or related environments; advocacy experience is desirable.
  • Fluency in a second language common to the client population is preferred.
  • Proficient in computer and word processing skills, with the ability to use legal databases effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.
