Overview
- Perform mammography and radiographic procedures under supervision, ensuring high-quality diagnostic imaging.
- Apply independent judgment and initiative in technical tasks to support radiologic diagnosis.
- Provide care to patients ranging from young adults to the elderly, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Maintain compliance with infection control, radiation safety, and federal guidelines.
- Operate mammographic equipment and maintain quality standards for imaging procedures.
- Document patient records and ensure accurate use of Radiology Information Systems (RIS).
- Participate in training new staff and students, contributing to team development.
- Perform non-technical duties, including stocking rooms and patient transport.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Operate mammographic equipment according to specifications, ensuring adherence to protocols.
- Follow radiation safety practices, including shielding and monitoring film badges.
- Assess patients and prepare them for exams, including checking orders and reviewing previous films.
- Educate patients about procedures and document relevant information in their records.
- Maintain and troubleshoot imaging processors, addressing any issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with RIS standards, including accurate documentation of procedures.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support team operations by performing additional tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree required; graduate of an accredited ARRT program preferred.
- Current ARRT certification mandatory; advanced mammography certification preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience in mammography or radiographic procedures preferred.
- Proficiency in operating mammographic equipment and performing quality imaging procedures.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with RIS systems required.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
- Strong knowledge of radiation safety practices and infection control protocols.
- Physical capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and perform tasks requiring standing and bending.
