Job Description

Overview

  • Lead patient safety initiatives as the appointed Patient Safety Officer.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive patient safety programs across hospital and outpatient clinics.
  • Promote a culture of safety to reduce medical errors and adverse events.
  • Manage incident reporting systems and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to implement effective patient safety strategies.
  • Provide leadership and support to employees in patient safety initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize patient safety science to improve healthcare delivery systems.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Administer and oversee patient safety programs within the organization.
  • Develop and implement the hospital's patient safety plan.
  • Facilitate continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance safety.
  • Analyze and report on patient safety metrics and outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with CMS, DEA, and Title 22 regulations.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to address safety challenges.
  • Provide training and education on patient safety principles.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to improve safety protocols.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Current California Clinical License (RN, PharmD, or related field).
  • Certification as Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) within two years of hire.
  • Minimum three years of experience in patient safety or related fields.
  • Four years of acute care hospital experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead quality improvement initiatives effectively.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
