Senior Property Accountant

Overview

• Manage financial reporting and accounting operations for a diverse portfolio of residential properties.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and internal policies for accurate financial records.
• Collaborate with asset management teams and external clients for seamless operations.
• Prepare and reconcile general ledgers, journal entries, and monthly reporting packages.
• Coordinate audits with external CPA firms and client accountants.
• Contribute to year-end reporting processes to meet auditor and client deadlines.
• Provide insights and recommendations to enhance financial management practices.
• Support property transitions and ensure smooth financial integration.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Maintain and reconcile general ledgers for multiple properties with minimal supervision.
• Coordinate audits and prepare supporting documentation for account balances.
• Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages within deadlines.
• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and adjustments.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and internal policies for financial accuracy.
• Collaborate with asset management teams and external clients for effective communication.
• Support property transitions and ensure financial integration during changes.
• Perform additional duties as needed to support organizational goals.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience within the real estate industry.
• Proficiency in accrual and cash basis accounting practices.
• Experience with property management software such as Yardi, P2P, and ClickPay.
• CPA license is strongly preferred for this role.
• Strong analytical and communication skills for effective collaboration.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
• Experience with property transitions and financial integration is preferred.
