Job Description

Overview

  • Perform clinical laboratory procedures in a dynamic, on-site environment.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accurate test results.
  • Prepare reagents and run controls for various laboratory tests.
  • Collaborate with clinic staff and physicians to retrieve and interpret test results.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and adhere to laboratory protocols.
  • Participate in educational activities to enhance laboratory skills.
  • Work flexible hours, including rotating weekends, with schedule adjustments.
  • Contribute to inventory management and supply orders.
  • Maintain positive relationships with team members and external agencies.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Access specimens and ensure proper documentation for ordered tests.
  • Perform daily maintenance procedures for laboratory equipment.
  • Monitor equipment and room temperatures, documenting findings.
  • Conduct proficiency testing and report results to supervisors.
  • Assist in retrieving patient test results and answering technical queries.
  • Notify physicians of critical test values following established protocols.
  • Document all work and results accurately and comprehensively.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve organizational goals.
  • Enhance communication by displaying excellent customer service skills.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; strong background in biological sciences preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of medical laboratory experience; 2 years preferred.
  • Competent microscopy skills and knowledge of medical terminology essential.
  • Proficiency in computer programs and applications for laboratory operations.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and solve complex problems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately.
