Project Manager (Accounting)

Overview

• Lead and oversee finance-focused projects, driving process improvements and technology implementations aligned with organizational goals and compliance standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, IT, and operations, to ensure successful project execution.
• Enhance month-end close activities and optimize data workflows through automation and repeatability.
• Develop and implement change management strategies to facilitate project adoption and minimize resistance.
• Analyze existing finance processes, recommending and implementing improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
• Manage data governance and ETL processes, ensuring structured and reliable financial and operational data.
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
• Work in a hybrid environment, balancing remote flexibility with onsite collaboration.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets for finance-related initiatives.
• Engage stakeholders to gather requirements, manage expectations, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Coordinate internal and external resources to meet project goals and deadlines effectively.
• Identify risks and proactively create mitigation plans to address potential challenges.
• Lead the implementation of financial software and tools, ensuring compliance and business needs are met.
• Maintain thorough project documentation and present updates to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with finance teams to improve data management and integration processes.
• Support organizational change initiatives to enhance adoption of new processes and systems.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field; PMP or CAPM certification preferred.
• 7-10 years of project management experience, with at least 3 years in finance-focused roles.
• Strong understanding of finance principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Proficiency with project management tools like MS Project, Asana, or Jira.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and finance software such as SAP, Oracle, or Workday.
• Knowledge of data ETL and visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities to engage stakeholders effectively.
