Job Description

Overview

  • Lead the management and maintenance of enterprise Microsoft SQL Server database systems for a dynamic organization.
  • Ensure maximum application availability by minimizing database and application downtime through proactive monitoring and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with IS management and staff to support and enhance firm systems reliant on SQL Server.
  • Design and implement data integrations and solutions using SQL Server business intelligence tools.
  • Advise on architecture and configuration of SQL systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery planning and maintain backup procedures for SQL Server environments.
  • Work in a remote setup, providing technical support for a geographically dispersed organization.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Monitor and maintain SQL instances and databases to maximize system availability and promptly resolve issues.
  • Configure and install SQL Server features, including log shipping, mirroring, replication, and AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
  • Support document management systems and related tasks, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
  • Design and implement data integrations between systems, maintaining data consistency and reliability.
  • Advise teams on SQL Server architecture, configurations, and upgrades for optimal performance.
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures for SQL Server operations, including backups and disaster recovery.
  • Manage multiple projects independently, adhering to timelines and budget constraints.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff members, fostering professional growth.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in an enterprise environment.
  • Proficiency in advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, and troubleshooting performance issues.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server business intelligence tools like SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, and PowerBI.
  • Experience with Azure SQL environments and cloud platform solutions.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, .NET, and C#.
  • Microsoft SQL Server or other RDBMS certifications preferred.
  • Azure Cloud certifications are a plus.
