Job Description
Overview
- Provide comprehensive legal support to attorneys specializing in tax, trusts, and estates.
- Ensure accuracy in financial data and legal documents through meticulous review.
- Collaborate with clients, beneficiaries, and third parties to resolve estate and trust issues.
- Manage estate and trust accounts, including checkbooks and reconciliations.
- Prepare and file estate and trust accountings and tax returns.
- Support estate administration, including asset valuation and inventory preparation.
- Contribute to process improvements for efficiency and cost reduction.
- Draft correspondence and legal documents, ensuring compliance with court procedures.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage financial transactions and records for estate and trust accounts.
- Coordinate with attorneys to ensure timely payment of expenses and distributions.
- Communicate with clients and professionals to gather information and provide updates.
- Prepare detailed inventories and valuations of estate assets and liabilities.
- Assist in filing estate and inheritance tax returns and related documentation.
- Track trust income, distributions, and maintain accurate beneficiary records.
- Develop estate tax projections and expense estimates in consultation with attorneys.
- Contribute to the development of consistent internal processes for legal filings.
Job Requirements
- Associate/Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal Certificate required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Tax, Trusts, and Estates Paralegal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments effectively.
- Experience with iManage Document Management System preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
