Job Description

Overview

  • Oversee the operations of anatomic pathology laboratories, ensuring high-quality testing and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to streamline laboratory processes and enhance service delivery.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies aligning with organizational goals and accreditation requirements.
  • Promote a culture of excellence and teamwork within laboratory departments.
  • Ensure staff training, competency assessments, and adherence to professional standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laboratory technologies and compliance regulations.
  • Monitor operational efficiency and implement improvements to enhance service quality.
  • Support hospital-wide initiatives through effective collaboration and leadership.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Supervise laboratory operations, including histology, cytology, and related testing procedures.
  • Lead and mentor laboratory staff, fostering professional growth and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, goals, and objectives.
  • Implement quality control programs and prepare performance reports for review.
  • Facilitate effective communication within laboratory teams and across departments.
  • Optimize laboratory software systems to improve operational efficiency.
  • Handle staffing processes, including recruitment, evaluations, and disciplinary actions.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Technology or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of six years of experience in hospital laboratory operations.
  • Current NYS License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or related certification.
  • Preferred ASCP Certification for enhanced qualifications.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills within laboratory settings.
  • Proficiency in laboratory operations and compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Ability to develop and manage departmental goals and budgets effectively.
