Job Description

Overview

  • Contribute to the development of advanced mechanical systems for innovative aerospace applications in a hybrid work setting.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, prototype, and test cutting-edge mechanical components.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art CAD tools for structural and thermal analysis to ensure optimal performance.
  • Engage in hands-on fabrication and testing to transform concepts into functional systems.
  • Participate in field operations, including system demonstrations and mission support activities.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and maintain detailed documentation of processes.
  • Work in diverse environments, including office, laboratory, and outdoor field settings.
  • Occasionally travel to support field testing and operational deployments.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems for aerospace platforms, ensuring durability and functionality.
  • Integrate propulsion, telemetry, and payload systems into cohesive, high-performance designs.
  • Conduct structural and thermal simulations to validate and refine mechanical designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to achieve project milestones effectively.
  • Perform failure analysis and implement solutions to enhance reliability and safety.
  • Support mission planning, risk assessments, and site surveys for testing operations.
  • Maintain detailed records of system performance, maintenance, and flight operations.
  • Operate aerospace platforms during field missions, adhering to safety protocols.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical systems design, assembly, and testing.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360 is essential.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, fabrication techniques, and advanced manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of propulsion systems, aerodynamics, and mechanical subsystems is advantageous.
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or willingness to obtain is required.
  • Experience with aerospace materials selection and autopilot systems is preferred.
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
