Job Description
Overview
- Provide occupational therapy services to adults and geriatrics across multiple sites within a 20-minute driving radius.
- Evaluate and treat patients requiring sensorimotor rehabilitation, activities for daily living training, and range of motion improvement.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized therapeutic plans.
- Supervise Occupational Therapist Assistants and students from affiliate colleges during their training.
- Maintain accurate records of patient progress and therapeutic interventions.
- Participate in semi-annual staff in-service training sessions regarding occupational therapy practices.
- Travel between designated sites as needed to provide therapy services.
- Ensure compliance with agency requirements and contribute to team efforts for achieving organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Assess patients' fine motor, perceptual motor, and sensorimotor functions to determine rehabilitation goals.
- Develop and implement therapeutic activities to enhance patients' work and life-management skills.
- Communicate therapeutic procedures effectively to patients, families, and staff members.
- Prepare detailed progress reports and recommend changes in patients' environments as needed.
- Consult with rehabilitation teams to coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities.
- Supervise and provide input on hiring Occupational Therapist Assistants.
- Maintain specified efficiency levels and comply with outcome measure requirements.
- Ensure proper documentation and adherence to professional standards in therapy practices.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and certification by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Minimum of two years of experience in occupational therapy or equivalent combination of education and training.
- Valid New York State License/Certification in Occupational Therapy.
- Ability to travel between multiple sites as required by patient needs.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate patient records.
- Proficiency in sensorimotor rehabilitation and activities for daily living training.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
