Overview
- Engage directly with community members experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness to provide support and resources.
- Conduct street outreach and mobile case management services in Midtown Manhattan.
- Build rapport with program participants to facilitate connections to social services and community resources.
- Utilize lived experiences to relate to and support the client population effectively.
- Collaborate with a dynamic team to address homelessness and housing insecurity challenges.
- Contribute to the Community First program, focusing on non-system-involved support initiatives.
- Participate in a temporary role with potential for permanent placement based on fiscal year outcomes.
- Work on-site, primarily in the streets around Times Square, with a base in the Midtown office.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct outreach activities to engage with individuals experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.
- Provide mobile case management services to connect clients with appropriate resources.
- Build and maintain meaningful relationships with program participants to foster trust and collaboration.
- Collaborate with social services and community-based organizations to facilitate resource linkages.
- Utilize bilingual Spanish skills to enhance communication and outreach effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of outreach and case management activities.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance service delivery.
- Support the Community First program's objectives by addressing housing insecurity challenges.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree required, with relevant coursework in social services or related fields.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in case management or community outreach roles.
- Preferred certifications: Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) or Certified Peer Specialist (CPS).
- Lived experience with homelessness, substance use, or mental health challenges is highly valued.
- Bilingual Spanish proficiency is strongly preferred for effective communication.
- Comfortable working on-site and conducting outreach in public spaces.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
- Availability for a temporary role with potential for permanent placement.
