Job Description
Overview
- Lead and manage a Level III NICU unit with 20 beds, providing care for infants 25 weeks gestational age and older.
- Oversee a team of 52 FTEs, including nursing staff and CNAs, ensuring effective operations and high-quality patient care.
- Collaborate with peer managers in L&D, postpartum, and float pool departments to maintain cohesive unit operations.
- Drive recruitment initiatives to address staffing challenges, particularly for night shift positions.
- Support the department's active initiatives and contribute to its continued growth and development.
- Participate in strategic planning for the upcoming hospital expansion, including potential NICU growth opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, maintaining the highest level of patient safety and care.
- Report directly to the Chief Nursing Officer, providing updates on departmental performance and challenges.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage daily operations of the NICU, ensuring efficient workflows and optimal resource allocation.
- Supervise and mentor nursing staff and CNAs, fostering professional growth and development within the team.
- Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Coordinate with external partners for surgical and cardiac case transfers, maintaining seamless patient care transitions.
- Develop and execute recruitment strategies to address staffing needs and challenges.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership on strategic planning and NICU expansion projects.
- Ensure adherence to healthcare policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and manage departmental budgets, optimizing financial resources effectively.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; advanced certifications preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in NICU management; 5 years preferred.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing diverse healthcare teams.
- Strong knowledge of NICU operations, patient care standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with staff and leadership.
- Ability to drive recruitment and retention strategies effectively.
