Overview
- Support a dynamic legal team by managing comprehensive billing processes remotely.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements and organizational policies in billing operations.
- Collaborate with legal professionals to address work-in-progress balances effectively.
- Prepare, review, and distribute accurate monthly prebills to attorneys.
- Handle client inquiries, reconcile discrepancies, and provide detailed billing reports.
- Assist in manual and electronic billing submissions, ensuring precision and timeliness.
- Analyze billing trends and recommend improvements for enhanced efficiency.
- Participate in special projects and provide backup support to the billing team.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by anticipating needs and offering responsive solutions.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Prepare and distribute monthly prebills, ensuring compliance with guidelines.
- Create and revise billing formats to meet client and attorney requirements.
- Process write-downs, retainer applications, and premium allocations with approvals.
- Resolve electronic billing errors and validate submission setups.
- Collaborate with departments to update client/matter files and resolve rate issues.
- Provide monthly billing reports and prepare accruals for budget analysis.
- Contact clients to address billing issues and improve cash flow.
- Analyze trends to suggest process improvements and fulfill special client requests.
- Ensure adherence to billing policies and retention guidelines.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting/finance experience required.
- Proficiency in accounting software systems and MS Office applications.
- Familiarity with Aderant, E-Billing-Hub, Bill Blast, and IntappTime is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of accounting policies and procedures.
- Ability to multitask, adapt to changes, and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Experience in professional services or law firm environments preferred.
- Willingness to occasionally work beyond standard hours to meet deadlines.
