Overview
- Manage and process weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for employees across multiple entities and states.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax and labor laws.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve payroll system issues and ensure accurate reporting.
- Handle union payroll requirements, including compliance with agreements and accurate processing.
- Prepare and review payroll-related reports, including tax filings and employment verifications.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity while managing sensitive employee information.
- Stay updated on payroll legislation and recommend process improvements.
- Support audits by providing accurate and timely data submissions.
- Contribute to a collaborative and efficient payroll administration environment.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Process payrolls, including special funding requests, bonuses, and retroactive pay calculations.
- Manage payroll system changes such as terminations, deductions, and garnishments.
- Ensure compliance with union agreements and manage related payroll requirements.
- Conduct payroll reconciliations and resolve system issues with ADP support.
- Respond to payroll inquiries and provide expert guidance to employees and managers.
- Prepare and review payroll-related reports for compliance and internal audits.
- Track disability payments and ensure appropriate payroll treatment.
- Maintain accurate and confidential payroll files in compliance with retention laws.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance payroll operations efficiency.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll administration, preferably in multi-state organizations.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience managing union payrolls, particularly under Local 32BJ agreements.
- Strong analytical skills and knowledge of payroll systems and legislation.
- Ability to handle sensitive employee data with integrity and discretion.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret labor laws and wage regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
