Job Description

Overview

  • Manage external financial reporting for a leading real estate company, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations.
  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, and 8-K.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during reviews and audits to ensure timely responses.
  • Evaluate the impact of new accounting pronouncements and regulatory developments on financial statements.
  • Support special projects, including mergers and acquisitions and software implementations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in reporting processes, software systems, and internal controls.
  • Assist with income tax accruals, filings, and REIT compliance calculations.
  • Provide leadership in implementing new reporting requirements and strengthening internal processes.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare and review SEC filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Coordinate with auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Monitor and evaluate new accounting standards and regulatory changes.
  • Manage XBRL tagging and electronic filings with the SEC.
  • Support due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and corporate initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing income tax accruals and REIT compliance calculations.
  • Enhance reporting processes and internal controls for efficiency and automation.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to meet deadlines and ensure accurate reporting.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in public accounting or financial reporting.
  • CPA designation and public accounting experience required.
  • Proficiency in U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and financial reporting practices.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Experience with real estate accounting software like MRI or Yardi preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and presentation.
