Job Description

Overview

  • Lead the estimation process for complex construction projects, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of cost assessments.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive project estimates and strategies.
  • Analyze project scopes, specifications, and drawings to identify requirements and gaps.
  • Prepare and manage RFQ packages, soliciting and evaluating vendor and subcontractor proposals.
  • Develop risk allocation recommendations and align estimates with operational strategies.
  • Present estimates and proposals to management and clients, highlighting key assumptions and strategies.
  • Support project turnover processes by compiling and delivering comprehensive documentation packages.
  • Contribute to maintaining relationships with key suppliers and vendors through effective communication.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Review bid packages, scopes of work, and client deliverables for completeness and quality.
  • Issue RFIs to clients to clarify scope gaps and missing information.
  • Prepare detailed estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontract costs.
  • Evaluate and normalize subcontractor and vendor quotations for selection recommendations.
  • Collaborate with operations to align estimates with construction methods and execution plans.
  • Conduct bid reviews, presenting key performance indicators and historical comparisons.
  • Prepare proposal schedules and client-requested documentation for submission.
  • Assist project managers with subcontract/vendor negotiations and field change order estimates.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of subcontractor and vendor scope requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction estimation; 13 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in multi-discipline estimation and construction project cost analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of RFQ preparation and vendor/subcontractor evaluation processes.
  • Experience with operational strategy alignment and risk allocation in estimates.
  • Ability to prepare and present comprehensive proposals and bid documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills for vendor relations and team collaboration.
  • Familiarity with hybrid work arrangements and willingness to travel as required.
  • Proficiency in scheduling tools like Primavera P6 and Excel.
