Overview
- Provide essential nursing support in a dental office setting, ensuring patient comfort and safety during procedures.
- Monitor patient health and vital signs, assisting with pre- and post-procedure care.
- Administer medications and injections as directed within the scope of practice.
- Collaborate with dental professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and privacy regulations.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic medical charts.
- Respond effectively to medical emergencies and assist in patient stabilization.
- Support the clinical workflow to enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Prepare patients for dental procedures, reviewing medical histories and ensuring readiness.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs before, during, and after procedures.
- Assist dentists and oral surgeons during complex or surgical procedures.
- Administer medications, injections, or IV sedation as directed.
- Educate patients on post-procedure care and medication usage.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and sterilization protocols.
- Maintain and update patient records accurately within electronic systems.
- Assist in responding to medical emergencies and stabilizing patients.
Job Requirements
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in New York State.
- Current CPR/BLS certification is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical or dental setting.
- Knowledge of infection control and patient safety protocols.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction.
- Experience in ICU, ER, or post-anesthesia care is advantageous.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced environments.
