Job Description

Overview

  • Provide essential nursing support in a dental office setting, ensuring patient comfort and safety during procedures.
  • Monitor patient health and vital signs, assisting with pre- and post-procedure care.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed within the scope of practice.
  • Collaborate with dental professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and privacy regulations.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic medical charts.
  • Respond effectively to medical emergencies and assist in patient stabilization.
  • Support the clinical workflow to enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare patients for dental procedures, reviewing medical histories and ensuring readiness.
  • Monitor and record patient vital signs before, during, and after procedures.
  • Assist dentists and oral surgeons during complex or surgical procedures.
  • Administer medications, injections, or IV sedation as directed.
  • Educate patients on post-procedure care and medication usage.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control and sterilization protocols.
  • Maintain and update patient records accurately within electronic systems.
  • Assist in responding to medical emergencies and stabilizing patients.

Job Requirements

  • Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in New York State.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical or dental setting.
  • Knowledge of infection control and patient safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction.
  • Experience in ICU, ER, or post-anesthesia care is advantageous.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced environments.
