Job Description

Overview

  • Lead strategic oversight and implementation of patient safety and risk management programs in a healthcare organization.
  • Promote a just culture and align critical functions with zero harm goals and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage program personnel, fiscal resources, and material assets effectively.
  • Support staff development and continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Collaborate with all organizational levels, including medical staff, to achieve program objectives.
  • Ensure alignment of patient safety strategies with organizational goals and legal requirements.
  • Act as a role model for engagement with patients, employees, partners, and the community.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and implement enterprise risk management and patient safety programs.
  • Monitor compliance with legal and regulatory standards to mitigate organizational risks.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives and advocate for best practices.
  • Manage departmental budgets and allocate resources efficiently.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to program personnel.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to enhance patient safety and care quality.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to stakeholders on program outcomes and strategies.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration across departments.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or Juris Doctor preferred.
  • Minimum three years of management experience in healthcare settings.
  • Five years of experience in healthcare law, risk management, or patient safety.
  • Current California Clinical License (RN, PharmD, or related field).
  • Preferred certifications: CPPS, CPHQ, CPHRM.
  • Proficiency in leadership and management principles and practices.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across organizational levels.
