Job Description

Overview

  • Lead surgical services operations at a healthcare organization, ensuring clinical excellence and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with organizational goals for perioperative services.
  • Oversee staffing, quality assurance, safety protocols, and compliance with clinical standards.
  • Support nursing professional practices and promote evidence-based leadership initiatives.
  • Address patient and physician concerns, fostering a collaborative and responsive environment.
  • Mentor and coach team members, driving resource management and organizational changes.
  • Facilitate staff educational development and professional growth opportunities.
  • Encourage research and evidence-based practices within the surgical services department.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide leadership to managers and professional staff within surgical services.
  • Develop and execute long-term strategies for clinical areas under supervision.
  • Monitor progress and provide guidance to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Analyze operational trends and implement changes to optimize outcomes.
  • Establish budgets and ensure adherence to financial performance goals.
  • Facilitate meetings and initiatives to enhance unit and organizational collaboration.
  • Resolve physician and staff issues, fostering positive relationships and teamwork.
  • Oversee performance improvement efforts and regulatory readiness activities.
  • Mentor team members in personnel management and professional development.

Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Texas.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing management experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in surgical nursing.
  • Proficiency in effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in relevant software.
  • Ability to mentor and coach team members effectively.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practices and shared governance principles.
  • Willingness to work on-site and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
