Overview
- Coordinate infection control practices and staff education to ensure safe and effective nursing care delivery.
- Collaborate with nursing leadership to improve performance and compliance with infection prevention standards.
- Oversee orientation programs for new nursing staff, ensuring competency in their roles.
- Act as a resource for clinical staff, facilitating continuing education activities.
- Manage infection control policies, including COVID-19 protocols and immunization programs.
- Participate in regulatory compliance efforts and quality improvement initiatives.
- Chair infection control committee meetings and provide actionable insights.
- Ensure adherence to infection control standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain professional knowledge through seminars and workshops.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop and implement infection control policies and procedures for the facility.
- Coordinate and oversee immunization programs for staff and residents.
- Analyze infection statistics and report outbreaks to relevant authorities.
- Facilitate orientation and ongoing education for nursing staff.
- Collaborate with nursing leadership to address performance improvement areas.
- Chair infection control committee meetings and follow up on issues.
- Ensure compliance with DOH and JCAHO standards during surveys.
- Participate in QAPI meetings and present infection control reports.
- Provide staff education on infection control practices and standards.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Current Registered Professional Nurse license in New York State.
- Minimum of four years of experience in infection control or related field.
- Specialized training in infection prevention and control required.
- APIC certification preferred; BCLS certification required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in curriculum development and educational program management.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards (DOH, JCAHO).
- Proficiency in performance improvement and infection control reporting.
