Job Description

Overview

  • Lead and manage specialty pharmacy services ensuring operational excellence and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Develop and implement efficient workflows to optimize patient satisfaction and medication dispensing accuracy.
  • Collaborate with IT and revenue cycle teams to enhance pharmacy systems and reimbursement processes.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor pharmacy staff, fostering a collaborative and patient-focused environment.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure operational and financial performance aligns with organizational goals.
  • Implement inventory controls to optimize medication handling and compliance with storage requirements.
  • Provide professional consultation to healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy and patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to financial planning, budgeting, and strategic initiatives to support pharmacy service expansion.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Supervise outpatient and specialty pharmacy operations ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Monitor operational KPIs including turnaround times, adherence rates, and financial metrics.
  • Recruit, hire, and evaluate pharmacy staff, providing mentorship and performance feedback.
  • Develop strategic relationships with vendors to optimize inventory access and patient support services.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of specialty medications, including controlled substances and cold-chain management.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize specialty medication therapy and patient adherence strategies.
  • Assist in developing the pharmacy’s annual budget and identifying opportunities for revenue growth.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and implement quality improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements

  • Doctorate in Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited institution.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Tennessee prior to hire.
  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience, with specialty pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of project management and effective resource management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration and patient-focused care.
  • Experience in compliance with Tennessee Board of Pharmacy and other regulatory standards.
  • Proficiency in monitoring operational KPIs and implementing corrective measures.
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships and optimize inventory control strategies.
