Job Description

Overview

  • Provide speech therapy services to students in a nurturing educational environment.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for speech and language needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and parents to ensure effective therapy outcomes.
  • Contribute to a vibrant special education preschool setting.
  • Participate in professional development and staff training programs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with procedural requirements.
  • Offer parent training and maintain ongoing communication with families.
  • Work on-site during school hours following the school calendar.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assess students' speech-language skills to determine therapy needs.
  • Deliver speech therapy services as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with educational staff during team meetings to support student progress.
  • Provide training and resources to parents to reinforce therapy goals.
  • Complete required documentation and maintain compliance with regulations.
  • Participate in staff development and in-service training sessions.
  • Meet regularly with supervisors to review therapy plans and outcomes.
  • Support the educational program's mission and contribute to its success.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in speech-language pathology or related field.
  • New York State certification as a Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped or equivalent.
  • Professional license as a Speech Language Pathologist in New York State.
  • Strong understanding of IEPs and their implementation in therapy.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with colleagues and parents.
  • Ability to maintain detailed records and comply with procedural requirements.
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
  • Experience working in educational or pediatric settings preferred.
