Job Description

Overview

  • Provide clinical leadership and administrative oversight to nursing staff within the Developmental Disabilities Division.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, person-centered health services adhering to OPWDD regulations and internal policies.
  • Foster a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement in healthcare practices.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance health outcomes and quality of life for supported individuals.
  • Supervise and mentor nursing staff, promoting professional development and clinical competence.
  • Conduct audits and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
  • Participate in oversight committees to support ethical and effective care practices.
  • Lead medication reviews and collaborate with prescribers and pharmacy services for safe pharmacological management.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Supervise nursing staff, conducting performance evaluations and fostering professional growth through mentoring and training.
  • Ensure compliance with OPWDD regulations and organizational policies through audits and corrective actions.
  • Analyze health trends to identify improvement areas and propose process enhancements to interdisciplinary teams.
  • Audit health records for regulatory compliance and implement strategies to improve documentation accessibility and integrity.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to develop and review person-centered care and treatment plans.
  • Provide medical expertise to internal committees, supporting ethical and effective care practices.
  • Lead medication reviews, ensuring pharmacological treatments are safe and effective.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy services to address medication concerns and optimize treatment plans.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Associate's Degree in Nursing acceptable.
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in developmental disabilities or community-based settings.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience in healthcare or human services environments preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and external providers.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills to manage priorities and ensure timely follow-through.
  • Experience with OPWDD regulations and policies strongly preferred.
