Overview
- Provide essential support to physicians and clinical staff, ensuring efficient patient care and adherence to medical protocols.
- Perform routine clinical and clerical tasks, including patient placement, documentation, and equipment preparation.
- Conduct screening and measurement procedures, such as recording vitals and collecting laboratory specimens.
- Assist with patient education regarding treatment procedures, medications, and physician instructions.
- Maintain exam room cleanliness and inventory, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.
- Perform administrative duties, including scheduling appointments and managing patient concerns.
- Adhere to established protocols for patient flow and visit completion to ensure seamless operations.
- Work effectively under pressure in a high-stress environment, demonstrating professionalism and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Place patients in examination rooms and document medications, vitals, and visit reasons using EMR.
- Perform screening procedures, including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature measurements.
- Assist in setting up exams and special procedures, ensuring patient and equipment readiness.
- Collect and process laboratory specimens, performing routine tests as required.
- Enter proposed orders into EMR for provider review and approval, ensuring accuracy.
- Explain treatment procedures and physician instructions to patients effectively and clearly.
- Ensure cleanliness and adequate inventory in exam rooms, adhering to regulatory standards.
- Perform administrative tasks, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and updating patient records.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant; 3 years preferred.
- Proficiency in computer usage and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure in a high-stress environment while maintaining professionalism.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA guidelines, ensuring compliance in all tasks.
