Overview
- Provide psychiatric care to a diverse and clinically complex population in an on-site setting.
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and manage psychotropic medications effectively.
- Collaborate with program leadership on policy development and clinical improvements.
- Offer guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses and participate in training committees.
- Respond to emergent clinical needs, including crisis interventions and case conferences.
- Participate in incident reviews and contribute to organizational development initiatives.
- Provide emergency first aid, CPR, and other critical interventions as necessary.
- Work closely with the VP of Nursing for clinical supervision and professional development.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and develop personalized treatment plans for patients.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, ensuring medication adherence and effectiveness.
- Provide medication management to individuals with complex mental health and substance use challenges.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and program outcomes.
- Offer clinical guidance and support to nursing staff, fostering professional growth.
- Participate in crisis interventions and provide immediate clinical support during emergencies.
- Contribute to policy development and organizational training initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with clinical standards and regulatory requirements.
Job Requirements
- Master of Science in Nursing with NYS certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience, with 3 years preferred, in psychiatric or substance use care.
- Strong emergency response skills and ability to manage complex clinical situations.
- Proficiency in writing, computer use, and bilingual communication preferred.
- CPR/AED/First Aid/Naloxone certification or willingness to obtain.
- Experience with mental health and substance use populations is highly desirable.
- Ability to work on-site during designated hours and provide emergency interventions.
