Job Description

Overview

  • Serve as a key member of the Financial Services team overseeing general accounting operations and property management funds.
  • Manage the general ledger, ensuring compliance with GAAP and GASB principles and timely reporting.
  • Oversee internal controls, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Supervise accounting staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate annual financial audits and prepare the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
  • Provide guidance on accounting and financial issues to departments and schools.
  • Ensure accurate filing of state reports and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Manage financial software systems, including upgrades and customization.
  • Contribute to improving efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Maintain and oversee the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely entries and reporting.
  • Supervise property management fund operations, including billing and receivables management.
  • Review and approve bank reconciliations, ensuring resolution of discrepancies.
  • Prepare and analyze financial schedules for audits and reporting purposes.
  • Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency.
  • Provide training and support for staff on financial systems and procedures.
  • Coordinate activities related to financial audits and state reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards and principles.
  • Act as a liaison with IT for financial software management and updates.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with 3 years in supervisory roles.
  • Preferred 10 years of experience in accounting and financial management.
  • CPA certification preferred for advanced accounting expertise.
  • Proficiency in large, complex financial systems and desktop productivity tools.
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and principles required.
  • Strong leadership and staff management skills essential.
  • Ability to manage financial software systems and coordinate IT activities.
  • Experience with audit coordination and preparation of financial reports.
