Job Description
Overview
- Provide physical therapy services to students aged 6 to mid-20s with developmental disabilities or autism.
- Evaluate students and develop individualized therapy programs tailored to their needs and classroom routines.
- Utilize various strategies such as exercises, manual therapy, and adaptive techniques to enhance physical function.
- Collaborate with caregivers and staff to ensure therapy plans align across home and school environments.
- Recommend and support the use of adaptive equipment and assistive technology to aid student participation.
- Maintain accurate clinical and administrative records in compliance with program and regulatory requirements.
- Work on-site in a structured environment with a consistent Monday-Friday schedule.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Assess students using standardized tests, clinical observations, and medical/educational record reviews.
- Develop and implement therapy programs addressing musculoskeletal and neuromuscular impairments.
- Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge summaries accurately and timely.
- Provide consultation and training to staff for effective carryover of therapeutic strategies.
- Collaborate with caregivers to ensure therapy plans are integrated into home routines.
- Recommend adaptive equipment and assistive technology to support student needs.
- Ensure therapy sessions are conducted effectively within the allocated 30-minute timeframe.
- Perform other related duties as required to support student development.
Job Requirements
- Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with pediatric populations, autism spectrum, or developmental disabilities.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing individualized therapy programs.
- Strong documentation skills for clinical and administrative records.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with caregivers and educational staff.
- Knowledge of adaptive equipment and assistive technology for therapy purposes.
- Experience in providing consultation and training to support therapeutic strategies.
