Job Description

Overview

  • Manage financial transactions and reporting for a portfolio of properties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Perform monthly close processes, preparing both internal and external financial statements for distribution.
  • Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring proper documentation and record-keeping.
  • Oversee daily banking transactions, updating records as necessary for accuracy.
  • Handle mortgage escrow and reserve account activities, including analysis and recording.
  • Support external financial audits by preparing relevant documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Collaborate on ad-hoc projects to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies in all accounting practices.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform month-end close processes, including preparation of financial statements and reconciliations.
  • Review and update banking transactions, ensuring accuracy and timely record-keeping.
  • Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts for assigned properties.
  • Record monthly wires, debt service payments, and other financial transactions.
  • Manage mortgage escrow and reserve account activities, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, including tenant security bank accounts.
  • Assist with annual external financial audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects to enhance financial reporting and operational efficiency.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in an accounting role; 5 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in Yardi software is mandatory for this position.
  • Experience with tax credit residential properties is advantageous.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Ability to work on-site and collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
