Job Description

Overview

  • Perform blood draws and specimen preparation with precision and care.
  • Ensure patient comfort and minimize discomfort during procedures.
  • Work across diverse demographics, providing high-quality care.
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations for safety and hygiene.
  • Handle specimen labeling, centrifuging, and storage accurately.
  • Follow physician orders and laboratory protocols meticulously.
  • Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients.
  • Attend annual training sessions to stay updated on practices.
  • Support laboratory operations with administrative tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform venipuncture and other specimen collection techniques.
  • Label, centrifuge, and store specimens per protocol requirements.
  • Ensure accurate matching of requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Package specimens for transport while maintaining integrity.
  • Comply with safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Update patient information and handle inquiries professionally.
  • Understand and follow physician orders for laboratory tests.
  • Participate in department training sessions annually.
  • Assist with maintaining laboratory equipment and cleanliness.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in phlebotomy; 2 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in specimen collection and preparation techniques.
  • Bilingual Spanish skills and pediatric experience required.
  • Ability to float to multiple locations as needed.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and DEP regulations for laboratory safety.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills for patient interaction.
  • Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced environment.
