Job Description
Overview
- Support attorneys and staff by processing discovery materials and certificates of compliance from prosecution.
- Review discovery materials for completeness and compliance, ensuring timely processing and organization.
- Manage evidence items by tagging, labeling, categorizing, and entering metadata as required.
- Ensure accurate entry of information into case management systems and maintain discovery files.
- Collaborate with internal IT teams to streamline discovery processing procedures.
- Assist attorneys and investigators in accessing discovery materials and troubleshooting related issues.
- Prepare written reports summarizing compiled information and maintain organized court files.
- Liaise with prosecution and court staff to ensure thoroughness of discovery files.
- Perform additional paralegal duties as necessary to support the legal team.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Process discovery materials, ensuring compliance and timely organization for legal cases.

- Perform liaison duties between attorneys, clients, and court personnel.
Job Requirements
- Associate of Science (AS) degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal or relevant work environment.
- Proficiency in computer software, electronic data sharing, and case management systems.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage discovery processes effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for liaising with legal teams and court staff.
- Knowledge of New York criminal law and procedures is preferred.
- Proficiency in additional languages is desirable but not mandatory.
- Commitment to advocacy for low-income individuals is strongly desired.
- Relevant paralegal training or college-level coursework is preferred.
