Job Description

Overview

  • Provide high-quality medical dermatology care in an underserved rural community setting.
  • Focus on patient-centered care, continuity of treatment, and expanding access to dermatology services.
  • Collaborate with physicians in a supportive environment to deliver comprehensive dermatologic evaluations.
  • Perform dermatologic procedures, including biopsies, cryotherapy, lesion removal, and wound care.
  • Educate patients on skin health, disease prevention, and treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical records system.
  • Participate in ongoing dermatology-focused education and professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical, regulatory, and HIPAA standards.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform comprehensive dermatologic evaluations, including full-body skin exams and patient histories.
  • Diagnose and manage various dermatologic conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, and rosacea.
  • Evaluate and treat precancerous and cancerous skin lesions within the scope of practice.
  • Conduct dermatologic procedures including biopsies, cryotherapy, and lesion removal.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and dermatopathology results.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with licensure guidelines.
  • Educate patients on skin health, disease prevention, and treatment plans.
  • Participate in continuous professional development and dermatology-specific training.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Active North Carolina Nurse Practitioner license and national certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year of dermatology experience beyond clinical rotations.
  • Preferred Dermatology certification or willingness to pursue certification within a year.
  • Proficiency in performing dermatologic procedures such as biopsies and cryotherapy.
  • Familiarity with dermatoscopy and electronic medical record systems.
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient education skills.
  • Commitment to providing care in a rural healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
