Overview
- Lead and manage endoscopy services nursing operations, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and performance improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care plans and outcomes.
- Provide leadership in staff development, training, and progressive discipline processes.
- Monitor and manage departmental budgets, productivity targets, and resource allocation.
- Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure effective communication and problem resolution.
- Support strategic planning for service expansion and resource utilization within the department.
- Perform direct patient care and education as needed, adhering to professional nursing standards.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Supervise and guide nursing staff in adherence to care standards and organizational expectations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality improvement processes within the department.
- Evaluate departmental functions and service delivery, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Participate in program development and unit performance improvement initiatives.
- Act as a resource for education and information in the area of expertise.
- Conduct nursing assessments, plan patient care, and implement interventions safely and competently.
- Document patient care appropriately and ensure teaching needs of patients and families are met.
- Promote respectful communication between departments to enhance patient-centered care.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; advanced degrees preferred.
- Minimum of five years cumulative experience in gastrointestinal nursing; supervisory experience required.
- Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing.
- Certifications in CPR, ACLS, and PALS (PALS within 12 months of hire).
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, quality improvement processes, and financial management.
- Ability to lead, motivate, delegate, and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Preferred certifications include Certified Gastrointestinal Registered Nurse (CGRN).
- Experience in critical care nursing and membership in professional organizations preferred.
