Overview
- Lead and oversee laboratory operations within a hospital setting, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve service, quality, and financial goals.
- Manage staffing, training, and performance feedback to maintain a qualified and motivated team.
- Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and accreditation standards.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance laboratory operations.
- Oversee financial operations, monitor resource utilization, and prepare operational reports.
- Foster open communication and provide leadership guidance to staff.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement within laboratory services.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Direct laboratory operations to meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure adequate staffing through hiring, orientation, and training processes.
- Develop department strategies to achieve service, quality, and personnel goals.
- Monitor financial operations and prepare monthly operating review reports.
- Maintain compliance with accrediting agencies such as CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA, and CMS.
- Manage vendor relationships and supply contracts effectively.
- Evaluate staff activities and provide coaching and training as needed.
- Implement policies and procedures, ensuring annual reviews are conducted.
- Develop communication plans to keep personnel informed and engaged.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- National Certification as a Medical Technologist required.
- State license required in applicable states (CA, FL, LA, NV, TN).
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive laboratory management experience required.
- Leadership experience in hospital clinical laboratory operations preferred.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and accreditation standards.
- Effective communication and team management skills.
- Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 as per regulations (medical/religious exemptions considered).
