Job Description

Overview

  • Serve as a Conflicts Attorney within a dynamic and collaborative law firm environment.
  • Analyze and resolve complex conflicts of interest to support ethical obligations.
  • Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to ensure compliance with professional standards.
  • Contribute to the development of conflicts policies and training programs.
  • Work closely with the General Counsel on legal expertise-related tasks.
  • Engage in research and analysis of corporate structures and transactional relationships.
  • Support lateral recruitment processes and client matter onboarding.
  • Participate in risk management initiatives across various firm departments.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Run and analyze conflict checks for new client matters and lateral hires.
  • Conduct detailed research on parties to identify potential conflicts.
  • Draft and review conflict waivers, engagement terms, and related documentation.
  • Implement and maintain ethical screens to protect confidential information.
  • Advise on compliance with outside counsel guidelines and client requirements.
  • Mentor and train junior team members in conflicts resolution processes.
  • Support attorney transitions and records management tasks.
  • Collaborate on refining conflicts policies and best practices.

Job Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with active NY bar admission.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in law firm conflicts or related roles.
  • Strong understanding of Rules of Professional Conduct across jurisdictions.
  • Proficiency in conflicts and intake systems and document management processes.
  • Excellent judgment and ability to balance legal risk with business priorities.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Experience drafting conflict waivers and advising on ethical screens.
  • Ability to manage high volumes of time-sensitive matters effectively.
