Overview

  • Lead pharmacy operations within a hospital, ensuring compliance with regulations and delivering exceptional patient care.
  • Develop and implement medication management strategies to enhance safety and treatment outcomes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide seamless pharmaceutical support.
  • Oversee procurement, storage, and distribution of pharmaceuticals across hospital departments.
  • Supervise and mentor pharmacy staff, fostering professional growth and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations and hospital policies.
  • Support offsite departments with emergency medication supplies and pharmaceutical needs.
  • Drive quality assurance initiatives to maintain high standards in pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage daily pharmacy operations, including medication preparation, dispensing, and distribution.
  • Oversee procurement processes to ensure timely availability of pharmaceuticals.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient medication regimens and safety.
  • Implement and monitor compliance with aseptic techniques and regulatory standards.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff, providing guidance and fostering professional development.
  • Develop and maintain pharmacy inventory management systems for efficiency.
  • Provide drug information and education to medical and nursing staff.
  • Monitor pharmacy budget and financial performance, ensuring cost-effective operations.

Job Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required; B.S. Pharmacy accepted with relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of pharmacy leadership experience in a hospital setting.
  • Active Texas Board of Pharmacy licensure required.
  • Certification in aseptic technique within one year of employment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical procurement, storage, and distribution processes.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with healthcare teams.
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor pharmacy staff effectively.
