Overview
- Provide expert litigation support in complex civil cases, managing case files from initiation to resolution.
- Coordinate discovery processes, draft legal documents, and conduct in-depth legal research to support case strategies.
- Assist attorneys in trial preparation, including creating exhibits, case chronologies, and managing post-trial procedures.
- Act as a procedural expert on court rules, requirements, and litigation best practices.
- Mentor junior paralegals, fostering professional growth and contributing to team development.
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff to ensure efficient case management and adherence to deadlines.
- Engage in high-volume, deadline-driven tasks within a dynamic law firm environment.
- Work in a hybrid setting with mandatory on-site presence on designated days.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage case files, including document production, deposition preparation, and trial participation.
- Conduct comprehensive legal and factual research to support case strategies and outcomes.
- Draft and file legal documents using systems such as Pacer ECF and NYS Court Filings.
- Prepare case chronologies, exhibits, and evidence for mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
- Collaborate with attorneys during trial preparation and post-trial procedures.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior paralegals, fostering their professional development.
- Utilize databases such as Relativity and TextMap for efficient case management.
- Ensure confidentiality and discretion in all aspects of work, maintaining high professional standards.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in a relevant field such as legal studies or business.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in litigation, preferably within mid to large-sized law firms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and court filing systems like Pacer ECF and NYS Court Filings.
- Experience with trial preparation and participation, including managing exhibits and evidence.
- Strong research, proofreading, and analytical skills to support case strategies.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Willingness to learn and utilize case-specific databases like Relativity and TextMap.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills to ensure efficiency.
