Senior Mechanical Drafter

Overview

• The Senior Mechanical Drafter will create detailed mechanical drawings and technical documentation for electromechanical systems.
• Collaborate with engineers to transform concepts into production-ready documentation for complex assemblies.
• Ensure compliance with drafting standards, GD&T requirements, and documentation procedures.
• Support engineering change management processes and maintain product data within PDM/PLM systems.
• Interface with manufacturing teams and suppliers to resolve drawing and documentation issues.
• Develop drafting standards, templates, and best practices for the organization.
• Assist with prototype builds, design reviews, and technical investigations as needed.
• Mentor junior drafters and ensure high-quality documentation standards.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Create and maintain detailed 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D CAD models for assemblies.
• Generate complete drawing packages including assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, and BOMs.
• Ensure drawings comply with applicable standards and company procedures.
• Collaborate with engineers to convert prototype designs into production-ready documentation.
• Support engineering change orders and maintain revision control.
• Review designs for manufacturability and assembly feasibility.
• Interface with manufacturing teams to resolve documentation issues.
• Assist with technical investigations and prototype builds as required.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• 8+ years of professional experience in mechanical drafting.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or CATIA.
• Strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
• Experience creating detailed drawings for machined, sheet metal, and composite components.
• Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems and engineering documentation management.
• Experience in defense, aerospace, robotics, or regulated industries preferred.
• Ability to obtain U.S. security clearance is advantageous.
