Overview
- The Senior Mechanical Drafter will create detailed mechanical drawings and technical documentation for electromechanical systems.
- Collaborate with engineers to transform concepts into production-ready documentation for complex assemblies.
- Ensure compliance with drafting standards, GD&T requirements, and documentation procedures.
- Support engineering change management processes and maintain product data within PDM/PLM systems.
- Interface with manufacturing teams and suppliers to resolve drawing and documentation issues.
- Develop drafting standards, templates, and best practices for the organization.
- Assist with prototype builds, design reviews, and technical investigations as needed.
- Mentor junior drafters and ensure high-quality documentation standards.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Create and maintain detailed 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D CAD models for assemblies.
- Generate complete drawing packages including assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, and BOMs.
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable standards and company procedures.
- Collaborate with engineers to convert prototype designs into production-ready documentation.
- Support engineering change orders and maintain revision control.
- Review designs for manufacturability and assembly feasibility.
- Interface with manufacturing teams to resolve documentation issues.
- Assist with technical investigations and prototype builds as required.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- 8+ years of professional experience in mechanical drafting.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or CATIA.
- Strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
- Experience creating detailed drawings for machined, sheet metal, and composite components.
- Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems and engineering documentation management.
- Experience in defense, aerospace, robotics, or regulated industries preferred.
- Ability to obtain U.S. security clearance is advantageous.
