Job Description
Overview
- Lead the accounting and reporting for a global investment portfolio, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, U.S. Statutory, and international accounting standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to onboard new private alternative investments and oversee their periodic activity reporting.
- Drive process improvements and manage enhancements in investment accounting systems, including Clearwater LPx.
- Provide analytical commentary on financial statement movements against prior periods and budgets.
- Oversee credit allowance analysis and participate in senior management committee presentations.
- Review technical accounting matters related to investment transactions and new asset classes.
- Manage the completion of investment sections for annual surveys and year-end reviews of SOC reports.
- Lead a team of seven professionals, fostering collaboration and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Oversee daily accounting operations and monthly financial close for domestic and international investment portfolios.
- Coordinate quarterly close calendars and ensure timely reporting compliance.
- Collaborate with treasury, legal, and portfolio management teams to manage investment activities.
- Draft and review accounting policy memorandums for technical matters.
- Review financial statement footnotes and disclosures, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Implement effective processes for insurance/reinsurance accounting and financial reporting.
- Manage project planning and execution for investment accounting initiatives.
- Stay informed on industry trends and integrate relevant insights into operations.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance; Master’s degree or CPA preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in insurance/reinsurance accounting, policy, or financial reporting.
- Proficiency in ASC Topics 320-326 and international GAAP standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and drive change.
- Experience with systems and technology utilized in financial reporting processes.
- Effective project management and planning skills.
- Knowledge of industry trends and continuous improvement practices.
- Ability to manage and develop a team, fostering collaboration and excellence.
