Job Description

Overview

  • Lead the accounting and reporting for a global investment portfolio, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, U.S. Statutory, and international accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to onboard new private alternative investments and oversee their periodic activity reporting.
  • Drive process improvements and manage enhancements in investment accounting systems, including Clearwater LPx.
  • Provide analytical commentary on financial statement movements against prior periods and budgets.
  • Oversee credit allowance analysis and participate in senior management committee presentations.
  • Review technical accounting matters related to investment transactions and new asset classes.
  • Manage the completion of investment sections for annual surveys and year-end reviews of SOC reports.
  • Lead a team of seven professionals, fostering collaboration and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee daily accounting operations and monthly financial close for domestic and international investment portfolios.
  • Coordinate quarterly close calendars and ensure timely reporting compliance.
  • Collaborate with treasury, legal, and portfolio management teams to manage investment activities.
  • Draft and review accounting policy memorandums for technical matters.
  • Review financial statement footnotes and disclosures, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Implement effective processes for insurance/reinsurance accounting and financial reporting.
  • Manage project planning and execution for investment accounting initiatives.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and integrate relevant insights into operations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance; Master’s degree or CPA preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in insurance/reinsurance accounting, policy, or financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in ASC Topics 320-326 and international GAAP standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and drive change.
  • Experience with systems and technology utilized in financial reporting processes.
  • Effective project management and planning skills.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and continuous improvement practices.
  • Ability to manage and develop a team, fostering collaboration and excellence.
