Job Description

Overview

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and legal support within the Family Law practice group.
  • Coordinate case management activities and maintain attorney calendars effectively.
  • Prepare, revise, and proofread legal documents and correspondence with accuracy.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential client matters with professionalism and discretion.
  • Support attorneys during trials, hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences.
  • Monitor case deadlines and ensure compliance with court requirements.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and expense reimbursements as needed.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare, revise, and file legal documents electronically and in person.
  • Manage attorney calendars, scheduling court appearances and client meetings.
  • Maintain case files, ensuring accuracy and organization of electronic and physical records.
  • Assist with preparation of trial binders, hearing materials, and exhibits.
  • Draft routine correspondence and legal forms for attorney review.
  • Process mail, courier deliveries, and service of legal documents.
  • Enter attorney time and assist with client invoicing and billing materials.
  • Provide support during trials, hearings, and settlement conferences.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of legal secretarial experience, preferably in Family Law.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.
  • Strong typing, proofreading, and document formatting skills.
  • Familiarity with court filing procedures and legal terminology.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive matters.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
