Overview
- Lead mechanical engineering efforts from RFQ to product launch, ensuring adherence to design guidelines and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electronics, simulation, design, project management, and quality assurance.
- Develop innovative products, focusing on exterior lighting solutions for on and off-highway signaling applications.
- Participate in technical meetings, providing expertise on lamp components and tooling for mold designs.
- Conduct DFMEA reviews and ensure designs meet quality, cost, and delivery standards.
- Support root cause analysis and action plan implementation for manufacturing issues.
- Engage in customer meetings to align project goals and expectations.
- Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to technical specifications.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide mechanical design input during project reviews, ensuring compliance with guidelines and customer needs.
- Collaborate with design teams to optimize lamp components and tooling for manufacturing.
- Perform thermal simulations and DFMEA assessments to validate design integrity.
- Support production teams with troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions.
- Coordinate with customers to address technical requirements and project updates.
- Ensure quality control measures are met throughout the product lifecycle.
- Develop technical documentation and reports for design and production processes.
- Facilitate communication across departments to streamline project execution.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in exterior lighting design.
- Proficiency in CREO, CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks for design and modeling.
- Experience with DFMEA and thermal simulations to ensure design reliability.
- Knowledge of plastics and tooling design for manufacturing processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication skills for customer and team interactions.
- Preferred experience in optical design and quality assurance methodologies.
