Overview
- Lead the Emergency Department's clinical operations, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with standards.
- Collaborate with medical staff to integrate services within the hospital's primary functions.
- Develop and evaluate policies to guide service provision and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Manage departmental budget, staffing, and resources effectively to meet operational goals.
- Provide leadership in hiring, training, and evaluating staff to maintain a competent workforce.
- Act as a professional role model and clinical resource for department staff.
- Ensure ongoing communication and updates to staff regarding departmental and hospital-level information.
- Coordinate with other departments to deliver integrated and seamless patient care services.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Oversee clinical, financial, and employee-related functions of the Emergency Department.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and budgetary boundaries.
- Hire, train, and evaluate staff, fostering professional development and competence.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to support service provision.
- Act as a liaison with medical staff to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Monitor and evaluate departmental performance, addressing areas for improvement.
- Coordinate integration of services within the department and with other hospital units.
- Ensure staff receives updates and information on departmental and hospital initiatives.
Job Requirements
- Current RN license from the Missouri Board of Professional Registration or active compact license.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required upon hire; additional certifications preferred.
- ENPC or PALS certification upon hire; TNCC or ATCN within one year.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care Emergency Department management experience.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage departmental operations.
- Ability to develop and evaluate policies ensuring high-quality patient care.
- Experience in budget management and compliance with regulatory standards.
