Job Description

Overview

  • Provide compassionate, professional direct patient care in an oncology clinic setting, ensuring optimal treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, and other medications following evidence-based safety guidelines and standards.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary clinical team to deliver comprehensive and cohesive patient care.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including IV and port access, maintaining vascular devices, and administering injections.
  • Educate patients and families on managing side effects related to treatments and disease processes.
  • Stay updated on advancements in oncology care, treatments, and nursing standards to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations regarding nursing practice and licensure requirements.
  • Work full-time with flexible shift options, including occasional travel to satellite clinics.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Administer various oncology-related treatments and medications, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and monitoring throughout the treatment process, addressing concerns effectively.
  • Recognize and respond to adverse drug reactions and emergencies promptly and appropriately.
  • Document patient care accurately using electronic medical record systems, ensuring data integrity.
  • Collaborate with providers and staff to ensure cohesive and effective patient care delivery.
  • Provide patient and family education on treatment side effects and disease management strategies.
  • Maintain proficiency in IV access techniques and safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support departmental objectives and organizational success.

Job Requirements

  • Nursing degree from an accredited institution and current RN license in Oregon.
  • Basic Life Support certification within two months of hire.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification within two years of hire.
  • Proficiency in IV access techniques and familiarity with chemotherapeutic agents.
  • Experience with electronic medical record systems and patient care documentation.
  • Preferred bilingual skills and knowledge of chemotherapy and biotherapy administration.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively with a supportive team.
