Overview
- Lead and supervise patient account operations, ensuring compliance with billing and reimbursement standards.
- Analyze statistical data to evaluate staff performance and financial progress.
- Identify trends and recommend process improvements to enhance productivity and workflows.
- Provide technical guidance on complex billing and payment activities.
- Develop and implement training programs to advance staff skills and knowledge.
- Ensure adherence to managed care contract terms and conditions.
- Monitor vendor performance and reconcile inventories and invoices.
- Prepare departmental reports and participate in special projects as needed.
- Stay updated on billing regulations and communicate changes effectively.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Oversee billing and collection processes to ensure timely and accurate operations.
- Resolve routine staff queries and escalate complex issues to management.
- Compile and analyze data on staff productivity and quality, identifying trends.
- Develop policies and procedures to address payment discrepancies.
- Conduct training sessions and maintain training materials and records.
- Ensure compliance with financial assistance policies and regulations.
- Prepare Medicare Credit Balance Reports quarterly and manage bad debt transfers.
- Participate in payer meetings to resolve billing and reimbursement issues.
- Recruit, train, and evaluate new personnel, supporting their development.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience in patient accounts management.
- Knowledge of hospital billing, insurance reimbursement, and third-party billing processes.
- Proficiency in basic office equipment and CTR computer terminals.
- Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Completion of the HBI certification course during onboarding is required.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills to manage departmental goals.
- Ability to develop and implement effective training programs for staff.
- Excellent communication skills to share knowledge and resolve issues.
