Job Description

Overview

  • Provide advanced clinical care to neonatal patients, ensuring high-quality treatment and support in a collaborative healthcare environment.
  • Utilize independent judgment in assessment, diagnosis, and medical procedure initiation within established guidelines and clinical expertise.
  • Coordinate care with neonatologists, nursing staff, specialty providers, and families to ensure continuity and comprehensive neonatal care.
  • Prescribe and manage medications, therapies, and specialty consultations to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Educate and counsel families regarding neonatal conditions and treatment plans, fostering therapeutic relationships.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and ethical standards while delivering compassionate care.
  • Contribute to the hospital's mission and values through professional conduct and collaborative teamwork.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform comprehensive physical assessments and examinations of neonatal patients, documenting findings and updates to care plans.
  • Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic and laboratory studies to inform treatment decisions.
  • Diagnose and manage neonatal disease processes, prescribing medications and therapies as needed.
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care delivery and effective communication.
  • Educate families on neonatal health, treatment plans, and supportive resources, fostering understanding and engagement.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all aspects of patient care and hospital operations.
  • Participate in professional development and training to stay current in neonatal care practices.

Job Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing with formal education in neonatal care required.
  • Current Texas Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure mandatory.
  • National certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner preferred; candidates in certification programs may be considered.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program and Basic Life Support certifications required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in neonatal services preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and families.
